September Newsletter 2020

22 September Newsletter Header.jpg

We started September by making a few operational changes. You might have met Cody on site, but he is now at the workshop full time as our workshop manager. This month we also completed first aid training with all of our staff so we will always have someone with first aid training on site.

BaptistCare Yarra Rossa

We are excited to start working on the new BaptistCare Yarra Rossa in Red Hill with Richard Crookes Constructions. Yarra Rossa will be an independent retirement community featuring a range of apartments, outdoor gardens and walking tracks plus high end facilities in a resort-style community.

Wainwright Facades will be installing 3700m2 of cladding in a mix of products including CSR Barestone, CSR Surround, CSR Territory, VM Zinc and James Hardie Soffit Linings.

Yarra Rossa is under construction now and is due for completion in 2021.

Common Carpentry Terms: Part 1-3

Have you been following along with our latest educational mini-series, Common Carpentry Terms?

In part 1 we discussed having the right tools for the job, in part 2 we looked at some common timber terms and in part 3 we went into detail about woodworking joints.

Follow us on social media to make sure you don’t miss the next parts in the series. You can also find the last series we did on the education page on our website.

MEET an architect - Jess De Rome

We believe in supporting and promoting connections in our community, so we have decided to introduce you to some of the incredible architects and designers we have had the privilege of working with.

Name: Jess de Rome

Where do you work: de Rome Architects

What did you want to be when you grew up: Growing up I was always interested in architecture but found the idea of presenting creative work to the world daunting, so I started a safe, straight-forward degree in Commerce instead. That wasn’t for me though, so I followed my instinct back to architecture.

Something you have always wanted to learn: I’ve always wanted to learn how to play a musical instrument. And generally, to learn some patience!

What are you currently listening to / reading: I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts.

Question you get asked the most at work: What would you design for here, and how long will it take??

Favourite part of the job: Seeing the craftsmanship of different trades coming together to create the finished product. As well as walking through a finished space and it feeling and functioning as you hoped it would.
