OCTOBER Newsletter 2020

23 October Newsletter Header.jpg

The end of October means only 7 more working weeks until the end of the year!

This year has been an interesting one and we are looking forward to reflecting on the year in the coming months.

But for now we are still busy working away on a number of projects around Canberra.

Industry House

We recently completed work at Industry House in the Canberra CBD. We worked with Boss Projects Group to remove and replace some of the existing cladding with 300m2 of MondoClad to ensure the new cladding meets the current safety standards.

Common Carpentry Terms: Part 3-6

Did you follow along with our recent educational mini-series, Common Carpentry Terms? We shared the second part 3-6 over the last month.

If you missed any part of the series you can now find the full series on the education page on our website. We have also included a downloadable poster for you to print off and display in your home, office, or kids’ room!

MEET an Architect - Jennifer Angelatos

We believe in supporting and promoting connections in our community, so we have decided to introduce you to some of the incredible architects and designers we have had the privilege of working with.

Name: Jennifer Angelatos

Where do you work: I own and run Core Interiors. We are a local Canberra interior design studio that offers interior architecture and design services to residential and commercial clients. We have a particular focus on environmental and sustainable design as that has long been a passion of mine!

What did you want to be when you grew up: When I was quite young, I wanted to design shoes and cars, particularly ones that could match! So, I guess you could say I’ve always wanted to be a designer.

Something you have always wanted to learn: I’ve always wanted to learn how to sing. Unfortunately, I wasn’t gifted with musically ability so I don’t think it will happen, I’m self-aware enough to know what I’m good at.

What are you currently listening to / reading: The Power of One [For the second time] & Eco House Book, by Terence Conran

Question you get asked the most at work: “What’s the best way to warm up this space?” is a really common question I get from my Canberra residential clients, given that we have extremely cold winters it’s so important to make a space look and feel (physically) warm. I’m a big fan of natural, earthy looks so I find my clients are always happy when I feature plenty or natural warm wood in a space, it provides lots of texture too.

Favourite part of the job: My clients mean everything to me. I love to learn about their lives and help them find solutions to all their design problems. My clients are what make my job so fun!
